Creating your office space

As a small business, having an office can be a new and exciting prospect. Having a good work space is ideal for maximum productivity, not to mention creating a sense of ease and boosting your emotional wellbeing.

One of the questions you might have is how to decorate your office. Do you want your office space to reflect you, or your business? You want your office space to pop, and to stand out to clients and visitors.

The real answer depends on if you are the face of your business or not. Usually if you are the sole person in your small business, the answer to this is ‘yes’. For a slightly bigger business, you might have a specific logo that represents the business as a whole rather than you as a person.

If you are the face of your business, you want to decorate your office to represent yourself in a professional manner. Having some personal items around the office can be a good reflection of this, but make sure to keep it clean and simple – you don’t want the space looking cluttered.

If you aren’t the face of your business, it’s a good idea to have a theme you can stick to. This can involve a recurring colour or two. Consider adding in items that represent what you’re like as a business – it’s great to look fun, yet professional. Maybe you want to add in a bookshelf, or an activity space.

Overall, you want your office space to be an inviting place both for the people working there and the people visiting. Having some wall décor or even a plant or two can also add some good vibes to the office environment. Above all, you want it to be a comfortable place where you can conduct business. Positivity and professionalism should go hand in hand.
