About BREED

Our Story

BREED was the initiative of the local community and with initial funding from the then Federal Department of Employment, Education and Training (DEET) was incorporated in 1994 with the aim of stimulating economic and employment growth within the Blacktown Local Government Area.

BREED undertook a feasibility study in 1994 which demonstrated the viability of an incubator to focus on nurturing small and developing businesses in order that they may develop entrepreneurial skills, become self-sustaining and meet the needs of their own customer base. The BREED Business Centre was established in 1996 after being successful in receiving a grant of $500,000 to refurbish an unused TAFE building into 34 modern offices, reception and administration. Since then the BBC has been providing office accommodation for start-up and small businesses.

As BREED developed it took the opportunity to work within the youth, education and community sectors delivering programs to assist student’s transition to post school education, training and employment. In 2010 BREED secured funding to deliver the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) School Business Community Partnership Broker Program as part of the National Partnership for Youth Attainment and Transitions.

Breed Business Centre About Us
Matthew Pearce
Past and current working experience.

I started my career in local government in New South Wales and worked my way up to hold several senior roles at metropolitan Councils. It was during this time working in councils that I identified areas where information technology and information management could assist councils to improve service capacity to their communities. This led me to create my own consulting business specifically focused on helping people in local government leverage the benefits of technology.
In 2012 I joined the team Redman Solutions. We are an organisation committed to helping people in local government deliver better outcomes for their communities. I have worked on projects in each state in Australia and have assisted in building a team and growing the business. Our strength is in assisting council teams to understand the connection between 'people, process and technology' and get them focused on the outcomes that will benefit their organisations and the community.
What is my purpose in life?

Matthew's purpose in life is to help businesses grow to their full potential and teach people to work more efficiently by harnessing the capabilities of technology. "The key to wellbeing in our world is thriving local communities with opportunity and encouragement for everyone."
What I bring to Breed Australia Inc?

For me BREED has an exciting and innovative mission - what stands out is the goal to improve a person's chance of getting a job or maintaining/growing their small business. Breed's aim to have a profound impact on disadvantaged people across Australia is inspiring. I am committed to outcomes, and connecting with local communities are key areas for BREED. I look forward to working with the board and team to foster an expansion of activities and success in these areas.
