About the program

Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing populations in NSW yet is faced with some harrowing statistics when it comes to crime rates, education rates, unemployment rates and mental wellbeing. Research shows that high levels of Emotional Intelligence among individuals leads to safer, smarter and more resilient communities.

BREED is delighted to present Community Emotional Intelligence Workshops to the parents and students of Western Sydney.

As a sponsor of these workshops, it is an exciting opportunity for you to be involved in making positive change in the region.

Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.

High levels of EI helps to build stronger relationships and puts the achievement of career, business or personal goals well within sight.

About the program

Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing populations in NSW yet is faced with some unemployment rates and mental wellbeing among our school leavers. Research shows that high levels of Emotional Intelligence among individuals leads to safer, smarter and more resilient communities. BREED is delighted to present the Goal Setting and Achievement Skills for School Leavers Workshop. As a sponsor of these workshops, it is an exciting opportunity for you to be involved in making positive change in the region. Most of us set goals, but only a few of us achieve them. This workshop will help school leavers understand how the connection between the brain and heart holds the key to achieving goals. They will learn the latest discoveries through neuroscience that will unlock the secrets to making clear choices on their future journey after finishing school.

Learning outcomes

These sessions will help school leavers with Emotional Intelligence, how to build rapport, emotional resilience techniques, and goal setting and achievement, which will help them make clearer choices for their transition to work, entrepreneurship or tertiary journey.

Success Stories

Changing lives, changing communities

Sanjeev’s Story

Sanjeev Mehra is an accomplished Bollywood actor, director and film writer.

Although Sanjeev was well regarded and highly successful in India, after arriving in Australia he found himself without a network who understood the value he could offer. Like countless migrants in Australia, finding work was challenging so he chose to start his own video and film business to make ends meet. As part of his journey, Sanjeev was inspired by BREED’s outreach programs. To do his part, he facilitated various high school and TAFE student work placement programs.

During the pandemic the events, arts and much of the entertainment industry was ground to a halt. Sanjeev’s business was greatly affected as the pipeline of work stopped with little hope of a way forward. However, Sanjeev worked with the team at BREED to identify and apply for grants and reposition his business. He undertook a 10-week online incubator program and further developed his business plan and associated tactics.

Sanjeev’s business has weathered the storm and it is now on the way to becoming financially sustainable. He has a dream and passion to create a social enterprise that has the potential to help young Australians becoming actors and film directors. Sanjeev is one example of real people and real transformations taking place at BREED.
